Growing Greenhouse Produce

What do you want to grow in your greenhouse? You have options depending on what kind of beds you put in your greenhouse. I have grown my own fruits and vegetables and I can say that if you have never tried vine ripened fresh picked vegetables or fruit you will be surprised at the amount of flavor there is in them. The bad thing is that once you do grow your own and taste the difference you will never want to buy from a grocery store again. If you share your fresh vine ripened produce with your family and friends they will not want to buy from a grocery store either.

Do you want to make money while enjoying what you are doing? What a great idea, making money from doing something you enjoy!

If you are going to grow any root plants like carrots, radishes, turnips, beets, you will need a deeper bed. These are just a few root plants to choose from. No matter what you grow it will be so much fun to harvest them and eat them or sell them!

There are a few vegetables that do really well in a tub like container. Cucumbers, pole beans, peas, and tomatoes to name a few. You will need enough room in your greenhouse to grow the larger plants, give them need plenty of room. Crowding any plants together can cause them to stress which could lead to diseases.

This is fun if you have room, corn! You can prepare a bed right in the floor at the end of your greenhouse and plant corn. You can also plant pumpkins in between the rows of corn so you can grow your own Jack'O'Lantern. If you like spaghetti squash give them a try and grow it just like the pumpkins. Try out different types of fruits and vegetables and find out which ones grow the best in your greenhouse. If you are new to greenhouses and have never really done any gardening then I suggest you start out simple and small. You don't want to get discouraged because you tried too much to soon. Take your time and learn as you go so you can get into raising the more complicated fruits and vegetables or some of the harder to grow flowers.

If you like to grow flowers year around then having a greenhouse is perfect. Just remember that some of the bigger plants will take up a lot of room and they will need plenty of room to grow so they don't get stressed and possible become more susceptible to diseases.

You can grow exotic flowers in your greenhouse, one of those are Orchids. They are beautiful and some have a pleasant fragrance. They are a favorite for many greenhouse gardeners. They like a warmer temperature, plenty of water and sunshine. The colors are incredible but white is the most popular.

There are other exotic flowers like the Living Stone flower out of South Africa. This plant lives up to it's name because it produces two leaves that mimic stones and rocky soil perfectly. They come in different variegated colors and patterns. Come the fall your Living Stone plant will grow flowers which could be pink, white or yellow and they look similar to a daisy. There are so many flowers that you can grow. Check with your local garden club to get more tips on how to grow the different exotic flowers that you may want to grow.

Start your own bulbs or seedling for flowers in the early spring so you are ready to put them out once the last frost is gone.
